A look at the renowned British choreographer’s work at Center Theatre Group
Choreographer and Director Sir Matthew Bourne has a storied history with Center Theatre Group. He presented his first production in the United States at the Ahmanson Theatre in 1997. He told Center Theatre Group in 2019 that Founding Artistic Director Gordon Davidson’s faith in his work helped him launch his international career. “It was literally our first international date for our company anywhere in the world,” Bourne said. “This is why this relationship is so important to me; it started when no one else had the faith to bring us.” What followed was over 25 years of international acclaim for his groundbreaking theatrical dance productions with his company, New Adventures, and beyond.
Now, he will continue his Los Angeles legacy with Matthew Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet this season at the Ahmanson Theatre. Take a look back at his previous work with Center Theatre Group over the years.
